The Ilmenauer Studentenclub e.V. is the 1990 founded union of the existing four student clubs and the student café at the TU Ilmenau. The first activities of the clubs date back over years, since then they have been housed in the basements of four dormitories on campus.

The association is non-profit and as free carrier of the juvenile welfare service recognized, operates open youth work and strives to be apart from normal openings of the clubs, a podium for volume, small art and culture. With over 50 concerts a year, the Ilmenau Student Club is the most active concert organizer in the district. It is a member of the Kreisjugendring and the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Soziokulturelle Zentren e.V. The event profiles of the individual clubs vary, so that we can offer the public a wide range of leisure activities. Joint activities of all clubs such as open airs, children's parties and festivals for young people have long been a tradition. At present, the approximately 160 volunteer club members offer about 500 events annually.

In order to be able to correspond to the financial potencies of young people, almost all events with artists are subsidized by the association. Close cooperation is also sought with other municipal and national institutions and initiatives, especially with various associations that are affiliated with the KuKo e.V.
